It’s that time of year again… It’s piCture pOlish Blog Fest! If you haven’t heard of it before, it’s basically one day where bloggers the world over wear piCture pOlish on their tips.

Usually they launch new shades to coincide with blog fest, which are swatched by the participating bloggers. This year however, they’re celebrating the year of the blogger, with the focus on us and our nail art. My blog wasn’t around for last year’s blog fest, so I’m thrilled to be participating this year! It’s so exciting to see an Australian brand on so many blogs all over the world.

The brief was to use 3 piCture pOlish shades to create a nail art manicure. The 3 polishes I used are Cosmos, Shocked and Blogger. Now, I have to admit I struggled a bit with this. Individually, they’re all stunning shades. But using them in combination really narrowed down my typical design choices. One of my ‘things’ is doing nail art based on shoes and other fashion items, so I thought I’d create something along a similar vein. This is what I eventually came up with, which I’ve very unoriginally named the “Sponged Gradient Dotticure”, inspired by this dress from the Preen by Thornton Bregazzi Resort 2014 collection:

Here’s a tutorial showing the steps I took to create this manicure:

What You’ll Need:

- Picture Polish Shocked, Cosmos and Blogger

- Black Nail Polish

- White Nail Polish

- Dotting tool

- Makeup sponge, cut into small pieces

Step 1. Apply the black nail polish. Allow it to dry.

Step 2. Using your dotting tool, dot white polish in a gradient starting from the tip of the nail. Use the larger end of the dotting tool to create larger dots near the tip, and the smaller end of the dotting tool to make smaller dots near the cuticle.

Step 3. Paint piCture pOlish Cosmos onto the corner of the cut up makeup sponge, and dab it randomly over the white dots. Repeat with piCture pOlish Shocked on a different corner of the sponge.

Step 4. Dot Cosmos and Shocked over some of the dots.

Step 5. Dab piCture pOlish Blogger over the tips for extra sparkle.

Step 6. Apply top coat, and you’re done!

piCture pOlish is also holding a competition, and 3 winners will be chosen to create a collaboration polish with them for 2014! All the manicures will be pinned to a Pinterest Blog Fest 2013 board, and the winners will be chosen as follows:

.       1 x Award – as voted by PP friends and fans
.       1 x Award  - as voted by all participants of Blog Fest 2013
.       1 x Award – as voted by Jules & Megs of piCture pOlish

So you should totally vote for me :p

I had a lot of fun creating this manicure, and I can’t wait to see what all the other participants have come up with! piCture pOlish shades can be bought from the website and from their international distributors. You can also follow them on Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube.
